N.C. jury decides for defendant in gas poisoning case

A North Carolina jury has ruled against the plaintiffs in a Greensboro wrongful death suit. The group of Forsyth County jurors ruled that a home-warranty company was not responsible for the carbon monoxide poisoning death of a local man in 2008. The man's mother had filed the wrongful death suit on his behalf.

Truck driver in fatal wreck may have been speeding

New reports about a fatal truck accident on U.S. 52 on May 6 indicate that the driver of the large vehicle may have been speeding. Authorities say that the 45-year-old North Carolina man was traveling at about 70 mph in a 55 mph zone, disobeying the speed limit despite inclement weather conditions. Investigators are still considering whether to charge the man with criminal activity in connection with the crash.

Man loses leg, not hope, after truck crash

A 45-year-old North Carolina man is recovering from a tragic truck accident that cost him a leg and caused several other severe injuries. The man was struck by an oncoming tractor-trailer in late January as he was working on a fence line in Wayne County. It is not clear whether the man intends to file a civil suit in connection with his injuries.

Elementary student killed by tractor-trailer

A 7-year-old Sampson County, North Carolina, girl is dead after she was plowed over by a tractor--trailer carrying logs outside her home. The girl was getting off the school bus at the end of the day when the truck accident occurred, according to local authorities. The driver in the case has been charged with a variety of offenses following the incident. The collision occurred just north of Harrells, a small town about an hour southeast of Fayetteville.
