North Carolina truck crash claims 1 life

According to Raleigh police, a 32-year-old woman recently lost her life after her 2013 Suzuki motorcycle was struck by a 2001 Ford truck driven by a 38-year-old man on Rock Quarry Road.

The man was headed north when he collided with the southbound motorcycle when the man made a turn into a flea market along the road. The woman died at the scene; the driver of the Ford was uninjured. He was arrested and charged with driving without a license, unsafe movement and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. After the fatal truck wreck, police transported him to the Wake County Jail. No information was available regarding his bond.

According to later reports by Georgia's The Augusta Chronicle, the deceased woman was a former stand-out, All-State North Augusta High basketball player who went on to play both basketball and volleyball for Albany State.

Any time that a motorcycle and truck are involved in a wreck, it is bad news for the motorcyclist. Even if they are lucky to be spared their lives, almost certainly their motorcycles will be totaled. Drivers of cars and especially heavy trucks have to remain alert and aware of motorcycle traffic on the highways and roads of North Carolina.

If you have been injured in a collision with a car or truck, or if you have lost a loved one to another driver's carelessness, negligence or inattentive behavior behind the wheel, you may be entitled to compensation for your injuries and other expenses. Lost wages, pain and suffering and medical expenses, along with other possible compensation, can be awarded to you either by an insurance settlement or jury award.
