A 44-year-old man faces reckless driving and misdemeanor death by vehicle charges in connection to a North Carolina traffic accident that left his girlfriend dead. According to a report from the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the truck crash occurred when the driver lost control of his 18-wheeler, causing the vehicle to fly over an off-ramp guardrail near a connection between two Interstate highways. Both the driver and his girlfriend, who was sleeping inside the truck's cab at the time of the accident, sustained serious injuries requiring treatment at a medical care facility. The woman died several hours later. Police say the truck appeared to have been traveling roughly 30 miles per hour over the posted speed limit.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is seeking witnesses to a car accident that left a 25-year-old man dead and four more people injured. Police say the man's vehicle veered across the center line before colliding with a van, but it remains unclear what caused the car to cross the line.
